We would like to congratulate President Henry Chen on his promotion to NYS Court Officer Major II. Henry began his career as a Court Officer in 1997 in Bronx Criminal Court. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2000, and remained in Bronx Criminal Court. Between the years of 2003 and 2017, Henry was assigned to the Mobile Security Patrol Unit. In 2018 Henry was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to NY Civil Court. Major Henry Chen is currently assigned to Bronx Family Court. Henry is kind, caring and has a wonderful sense of humor. Henry is the driving force behind our society and is the reason for our success. What you see of our society is what Henry envisioned when we began the society. We are quite proud of Henry, and we wish him nothing but the very best in his new position. Please join us in congratulating Henry on his promotion. We wish him continued success in his career.

Janice is an Associate Court Attorney assigned to Kings Supreme Court. She has been with that court of assignment since 2004. Janice focuses on Article 81 Guardianships and has assisted judges in conducting hearings, deciding motions and reviewing accountings. Please note that this examination will be held only at test centers located in or convenient to the 3rd through 8th Judicial districts. The resulting eligible list will be used to fill positions ONLY in the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, & 8th Judicial Districts.

We would like to congratulate our member Justice Phillip Hom, on his appointment to the Appellate Term of the Supreme Court, Second Department. Justice Hom is the first Asian American to sit on this appellate bench. Justice Hom is a graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. He was elected in 2017 to the NYC Civil Court serving in Queens county. In 2019 Justice Hom was elected to the State Supreme Court in Queens county. Please join us in congratulating Justice Hom on his appointment. We wish him continued success in his career.

We would like to congratulate our member Vincent Lee on his retirement from the New York City Police Department. Vinny began his career with the NYPD in 1998. He started in the 9th Precinct. He was promoted to Sergeant and worked in the 24th Precinct. Sergeant Lee has also worked in Transit District 4, and the 7th Precinct. Vinny finished his career with 25 years of service. We hope he enjoys a happy and healthy retirement. Please join us in congratulating Vinny on his retirement.
We would like to congratulate our member Charles Jim and his family on the birth of their daughter Amelia Jim. Amelia was born on July 2, 2023 at 8:20AM. She is 7lbs 10oz and 20 inches long. Please join us in congratulating the Jim family and welcoming Amelia to the world!
We would like to congratulate our member Kimberly Smalley on her promotion to Principal Court Clerk. Kim grew up within the NYS Unified Court System, as both her Father and Grandfather were Captains at the close of their careers. She started her career 18 years ago as a Court Aide in the Richmond County Clerk’s Office. Since then, she has been promoted steadily through the ranks as a Court Assistant, Senior Court Clerk, and Associate Court Clerk in Kings County. Kim has been a member of many associations including the Emerald Society and of course, the Asian Jade Society. She is extremely proud to become a Principal Court Clerk in Manhattan Supreme Criminal Court beginning July 6. It will be a new adventure outside of the Brooklyn home she has known for so many years, and she looks forward to the opportunities that the future presents! Please join us in congratulating Kim. We would like to congratulate our member Sergeant Cassidy Mock on the birth of his first grandchild! Sawyer Oliver Mock was born on April 26, 2023, at 7:38AM. He weighed in at 5lbs-12 oz. and measured 19 inches. Sawyer is born in the year of the rabbit. The rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace and prosperity. We would like to congratulate our member James Ng on his promotion to Lieutenant Commander Detective Squad. James began his career with the NYPD in 1997 with the 42nd Precinct. He has also worked in the Auto Crime Division as well as the Headquarters Security Unit as an Officer. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2008 working Midtown Precinct South, Patrol Borough Manhattan South Impact Unit and Anti-Crime/Peddlers Unit. In 2015 he was promoted to Lieutenant and has worked Patrol Borough Manhattan South, Shield/ID & Retirement Services Unit, Manhattan South Investigations, Manhattan Standard Assessment Unit, and the Professional Standards Bureau. We would like to congratulate our member Mike Vota on his promotion to Major! Mike began his career in 2005. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2009. In 2015 he was promoted to Lieutenant and was assigned to NY Supreme Criminal Court. He was promoted again in 2019 to Captain and became the Commanding Officer of Security Operations & District Court. Mike is also a member of the Special Response Team and a Ceremonial Unit member. Major Vota is now the Executive Officer to the Chief, as well as covering all the west end commands, District, Family, Supreme & Security Operations. Please join us in congratulating Major Mike Vota. We would like to congratulate our member Jessica Sin on her appointment to Family Court Judge. Judge Sin began her career in Family Court in 2006 with the Administration for Children’s Services. She was with ACS from 2006-2007. Judge Sin went into private practice with a focus on matrimonial and family law from 2007-2014. While in private practice she was part of the assigned counsel plan from 2008-2014, the assigned counsel appellate panel from 2012-2013. She did counsel work for the Law Office of James Abramson (2008-2013). In 2014 she became a law clerk to Hon. Leslie Purificacion in Supreme Court. In 2015 she became the court attorney to Hon. Connie Gonzalez in Queens Family Court. In 2016 she was a Support Magistrate. We wish her continued success in her career.
We would like to congratulate our member Anthony Rodriguez on his promotion to Major. Major Rodriguez began his career in 1998 at Bronx Criminal Court. In 2003 he transferred to Schenectady City Court. He promoted to Sergeant in 2005 and was assigned to Troy City Court & Saratoga Springs City Court. Anthony would promote to Lieutenant in 2008 in the 3rd Judicial District and then again to Captain in 2011. Major Rodriguez has worked Mobile Security Patrol and is a member of the Special Response Team. We wish him continued success in his career.
We would like to congratulate Tommy Hickey on his promotion to Sergeant. Tommy became a Court Officer in 2005. He began his career at Kings Criminal Court. Tommy is an executive board member of the Court Officers Association, and he is the Sergeant at Arms of the Emerald Society. We wish him continued success in his career.
We would like to congratulate our member Craig Brooks on his promotion to Major. Major Brooks began his career in Bronx Criminal Court. He has worked in Kings Criminal & Richmond Criminal as an Officer. He promoted to Sergeant in 2008 and was assigned to New York Criminal Court. In 2018 he promoted to Lieutenant and returned home to Kings Criminal Court. Craig has 23 years of service and is now the Major of Kings Criminal Court. Please join us in congratulating Major Brooks. We wish him continued success in his career.
